GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR POOL
1.
POOL
MAINTENANCE TIPS
Your local
pool professional uses water testing equipment to determine which chemicals
your pool needs. Proper pool maintenance includes frequent testing of
your pool water. This is your first line of defense in preventing common
problems and protecting your family and pool.
TWICE-A-WEEK
-
-
- Empty
skimmer baskets, skim leaves, insects, and other debris from pool surface.
- Clean
pool wall tile or vinyl at water line with a SURFACE
CLEANER.
ONCE-A-WEEK
- Shock the pool with a granular shock in the evening,
following the label instructions. Pool SHOCK
TREATMENTS restore the sparkle and sheen to pool water,
destroy germs, and burn away organic contaminants. Additional shock
treatment may be needed after a rainstorm, large number of swimmers,
or exceptionally hot weather.
- The next
morning, add a maintenance dose of ALGAECIDE.
MONTHLY
- Take a water sample to a local pool professional for
a complete water analysis. Obtain your sample from the deepest end by
reaching down to the elbow (18") and collecting water in any clean
plastic container.
MID-SEASON
- Clean your filter with a FILTER
CLEANER.

2. How To Calculate Pool Capacity
In order
to figure out the correct amount of chemicals to add to your pool, first
you have have to know how much water your pool can hold.
Begin
by calculating the depth of your pool, then determine your pool's capacity
by using one of the following formulas.
Average
Depth = Shallow End Depth + Deep End Depth ÷ 2
|
Sloping
Sides: If your pool has sloping sides, multiply the
final figure by 0.85
|
|
|
|
|
RECTANGULAR:
Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5
|
CIRCULAR:
Diameter x Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9
|
|
|
|
|
OVAL:
Full Width x Full Length x Average Depth x 5.9
