WINTER SPA CARE
Winter
temperatures can be particularly dangerous for your spa if the proper
precautions are not taken. We offer a few easy tips to guide you in
caring for your spa:
-
Prepare
your spa for winter by setting your controls to the "no freeze" mode.
Some spas have been manufactured to automatically enter the "no freeze"
mode, but don't just assume - check your manual to see how your spa
operates. If you don't have a "no freeze" mode, check your homeowners
manual to determine the settings you should use to avoid freezing
of the plumbing, equipment, and the water inside of your spa.
-
Check
your spa regularly during freezing weather and be sure you keep snow
removed from the cover. Accumulated snow could become very heavy and
damage your cover. Remember, vinyl becomes brittle when cold, so avoid
using sharp objects to remove snow and ice (a rubber squeegee is an
excellent tool for removing snow).
-
Make
sure you have a good cover. A faulty spa cover allows more heat to
escape, increases your operating costs, and may result in a freeze-up.
-
Beware
of power outages. A short power outage that causes you to reset your
clocks, can cause equipment failure on your hot tub. If your clocks
are flashing, you should check your spa.
-
At
the first hint of malfunction, contact your local spa technician.
A properly maintained and carefully watched spa should not cause you
problems during the winter months.
